Baww I missed a day.
Oct. 20th, 2010 06:22 pmDay 03 – Your parents, in great detail
Generally, I like my parents. Usually. I've never been denied anything I've needed (note, not 'wanted', 'needed'), and I've always been clothed, fed, and encouraged.
My mum's name is Janet Martlew, and she is a small woman who I like to hug because she's nearly five inches shorter than me. I get my hair and the majority of my looks from her (and her in turn from my grandmother, so I know what I'm going to look like, more or less!), but practically none of my personality - I'll go into that in a bit.
She spent five years raising me and my sister by herself (with financial help from daddy darling) until she met her second husband, my current step-dad John. We argue sometimes, though it used to be worse, since she often struggles to understand me and the way I look at things. She has a very strong sense of fairness, which can be her downfall at times as it often leads to her only seeing things in black and white, but it also always means that if she buys one of us something, then she has to buy the other one something too.
She's also painfully computer illiterate, and while she can type very fast she can't deal with everyday things like error messages.
There isn't really much I can say about her. We have very little in common and I can't really talk about the things that interest me because it all goes right over her head, so we don't spend a lot of time together.
My dad's name is Philip Andrew Southwell and he left my mum when I was four and a half, for a reason I later found to be untrue (read: I believed my mum until I was old enough to be curious). We didn't used to get on that well, my reasoning being he didn't really know how to deal with us as kids, and by the time I was fourteen I was very like him in personality - you know what they say, the worst person to get along with is yourself. I get a lot of my personality, interests and hobbies from my dad, much to my mum's occasional annoyance.
He lives by himself and has done since he got out of the mistake of a second marriage that he was in up until a few years ago (yes dad, I know you're reading this). My sister and I go to stay with him sometimes and if we're in need of something and he can provide it, he will. We get on a lot better now and he's usually the one to talk me out of my raging against my mother, and we talk near enough every night over msn (because he actually knows how to use a computer). Generally he understands the things I waffle about and if he doesn't, he'll listen anyway, rather than doing what my mum does and telling me to be quiet.
My step-dad is John Martlew, and my mum married him when I was thirteen. He's not at all like my dad, but we usually get along (however, when we don't, it can get quite bad). He's a bit of an oaf who doesn't know his own strength and has hurt me accidentally in the past, but he has a good heart and is easy to get along with most of the time. His main bad point is he can be incredibly childish, which is something that completely infuriates me, but I'm always told to not let it rile me up.
Easier said than done.
Day 04 – What you ate today, in great detail
When I got up I had some oven chips and mayonnaise. The chips weren't amazing but I was hungry. I also had a cup of tea. I haven't had my dinner yet but I shall be having savoury rice and some salmon.. possibly another cup of tea. I'll probably snack later. I don't eat much.
