Yes, it's me, I'm still alive!

How long has it been since I last posted properly.... erm. Wow. Nearly a month.

Guess I should let y'all know what I've been up to! To be honest... roleplaying, mostly. I've joined a couple of games on DW and they've been keeping me pretty busy, but I've settled now and should definitely get back into writing. I noticed it's been a month since my last fic update I am so sorry about that I haven't even noticed the time passing so quickly. It's even half done and everything. I'll have that up soon as I can remember where I was actually going with it.

I still don't have a job and I'm still not much closer to getting one, but I'm still trying. I suppose it won't be much longer before the Jobcentre starts pushing even harder at me but I can't do more than I'm already doing and I'm not going to spend a load of my own money to go trolling around Wigan/Manchester/Warrington looking for jobs. I'm unemployed. I can't afford £4.50 on public transport however many times a week. It's the undeniable flaw in their logic, I think.

Though speaking of work I'm still volunteering at the British Heart Foundation. I've managed to garner myself a couple of admirers and while the attention is flattering it isn't exactly wanted. One of them has backed off, but the other is being a little more persistent. Not pushily or creepily so, but I think he's got it into his head that if he can just persuade me that I'd like to try to have something with him then it would all work out fine. I don't get into relationships anymore for a variety of reasons, and the fact that he's on the rebound after coming after an eight year long relationship with someone who just left him about three weeks ago would mean that even if I did like him that way I wouldn't be getting into anything with him now.

He's a nice enough guy and I think he's trying to be understanding about why I don't want to be with anyone, but I don't think he can quite get his head around the idea of someone who has no sexual desire.

Still, until he starts getting annoying, I'll allow it. He's not doing any harm and it's not like he's cornering me and demanding anything. I'd just be reluctant about doing anything with him 'as friends' in case he takes it as a sign that I'm starting to come around to the idea.

Last Saturday, I met up with the amazingly awesome [livejournal.com profile] nasty_show again and we went to see The Avengers. I hadn't been terribly bothered about seeing it since superhero films aren't one of the things I lose my shit over, but I was curious, and Holly once again swept me up in her enthusiasm as she has a tendency to do.

Luckily, that morning, the birthday present that I had bought for her had also arrived! It was late, but it was the first I'd seen her after her birthday so what can you do.

This is what I got her.

It's a pendant, and I bought it from a seller on Etsy. It's about a centimetre high and hand made, and the cutest thing. We had some lunch at my house and then went off to the cinema.

Seriously. If you have not seen The Avengers yet then you need to. Even if you don't care about superhero films.

I would see it again. Easily.

Nothing much happened through the week. The manager was off work so we actually got stuff done. Honestly, the manager is lovely but she tends to flit about and get under your feet, while the assistant manager actually organises herself and everyone else. The only major problem we've had is one of the new staff seems to be dating all the new stock incorrectly. We've found stock dated 9/12 (9th of December), and if anyone from head office came in and saw that we would be in so much trouble.

I did, however, have the shock of my life on Friday afternoon. The phone rang, and Sue had her hands full downstairs so she called up to me to answer it. Kurtis, one of the other volunteers, is a nice guy but a bit socially backwards. He was closer to the phone, so he said he would answer it. I said okay.

However, had I known he would give off the 'hello British Heart Foundation' etc spiel in the most bored tone imaginable and then top it off by saying 'what do you want', I wouldn't have let him within ten feet of the phone. It is a place of work. You do not answer the phone like that.

I ended up having to take the phone off him anyway and apologise to the woman he was speaking to before I took down her address and number because he was just mumbling into the phone and couldn't seem to fathom how to hold the phone between his ear and shoulder while he wrote her address down. He's lucky it was just someone ringing for a pickup, not the manager, or the area manager, or someone from head office, or anyone. I smacked him over the head with a clipboard when I put the phone down and told him to never answer the phone again.

For the love of GOD.

Anyone who has made it this far, I congratulate you. There's still more.

Last night, my dad took my sister and I to see Avenue Q. We've seen it before, but dad hasn't. Our dad is one of those cool dads who is an utter nerd and lets you cuss (within reason) and goes to see things like Avenue Q with you. He loved it, and I had actually forgotten how rude it is.

Before that, though, we went to my nanna's with my aunt and two cousins. My cousin Sam is eight (I think?) and one of those kids who tends to just ignore you. I brought a Simon's Cat book along with me, which I'd picked up at the shop for £2.50 (£12.99 new, bloody bargain), to show to my nanna because I know she likes Simon's cat, and my cousin took a liking to it and spent an hour going through it with us. He then went through it again when we were done because he liked it so much.

Sometimes, he can be cute.

Now to the latest thing - my sister has expressed an interest to go to MCM London next year - a pan-fandom convention. She's not into anime, and has never really shown any interest in this kind of thing before, but now she wants to go.

And she wants to cosplay.

She gained so many cool points from me for that. More than she got from being able to quote the Magic Cupcakes video despite never having read Homestuck. Which my dad can now also do since I showed it to him. Amy wants to cosplay Rapunzel, á la Tangled, and I'm going to be her Mother Gothel. I have a friend who makes the most beautiful cosplays and she's going to see how much it would cost to make them for us, rather than having to settle for whatever we can find on ebay (because Gothel costumes are non-existent and Amy doesn't really like the look of the Rapunzel ones).

She's going to have a Pascal and take a frying pan with her. xD

So. How are all of you?

I can't remember where my last entry was and I can't be bothered to look so I'll just go from the beginning of the past few weeks and see how long this goes on for.

Only one thing left to go. I got my boots in the post this morning and they are amusingly difficult to get on and off. They are below my knee, but have no zips and are quite stiff (to the point where I will have to wear thick socks because they are going to chafe to high heaven on my ankle bones) so my heel gets stuck around the bottom and requires a good yank for the boots to slip over it. A similar battle ensues when trying to take them off.

They're comfortable enough once they're on, though.

Still playing Pokémon.

Just discovered - after going to finally buy the thing - that the person I wanted to get my cosplay outfit from doesn't appear to have it in stock anymore. Have my fingers crossed that they will reply to my email and either restock or at least put one up for me to buy. Eep eep eep. This is what I get for my procrastination.
blood_winged: (Norway & Iceland)
If it's not one thing it's another.

My current addition? Pokémon. I don't care if that's dorky. At all. So nurr.

What can I say. Hrm. I haven't really written anything now in... a while, except something I wrote for [livejournal.com profile] plextral which I don't think will ever see the light of day. I dunno why that is. Maybe my brain has decided it wants a hiatus. Probably.

I still need to apply for my university course, but they're having an open day in four days, so I'm taking that to mean I still have time. All I need to do is write my personal statement and I know for a fact I don't even need to try because I'm practically on the course already but eh, procrastinating. I'll make sure to get it done next week before I go away.

I also need to get my measurements and order my costume for next month, and get some riding boots - finally managed to find some cheap ones that will look good enough to pass. Kinda looking forward this one, especially since I know a couple of people from LJ who will be there! =3

Finally on the exciting news front, I am off to Venice in less than a week! I There will be so much picspam for you guys when I get back that your browsers will crash.

Someone wanna help me find some boots for my Rev!England cosplay? My ebay searching skills suck.

Post from mobile portal m.livejournal.com
blood_winged: (France)
So, I was rooting around in my Integra cosplay for the shirt to use for my modern/casual England at MCM in October and what should I find but a pair of white gloves~ ecchipiro and I had been discussing just those things a couple of months ago, as to whether or not I should wear them with my Rev!England costume.. and now I can! Yay.

I've got my casual!England outfit together - black trousers, white shirt, black waistcoat, navy tie in a Windsor knot. It took me half an hour to knot the tie because I kept getting lost in the middle. I've ordered some ACE bandages that got sent off today from Cyprus, so when I have those I'll try the outfit on and see how it falls. I may end up needing to buy a man's waistcoat...

In other news, I made a nice background using Himayura's latest beautiful illustration of Austria. Feel free to take.

blood_winged: (England)
Heeeeeee my wig came! -insert flailing here- One step closer to my Rev!England cosplay o3o;

It is gorgeous. It's a beautiful colour and so soft, and it fits, which is awesome, because I have a somewhat large head and I was worried it wouldn't. The only thing I need to alter is the fringe, but we're going to wait until next time my mum gets her hair cut, and ask our hairdresser Karen if she can cut it for me. I'd do it myself but god I don't want to mess it up.

Anyways, for now, here is how it looks at the moment.

Photo! )

Serious expression is serious. I also need to stop biting my lips for October. xD
blood_winged: (England)
Something to bind my chest - check
Wig - check (actually they tried to deliver it today but no one answered, so I'm getting up tomorrow to wait for the DHL guy.)

Shoes - Not check, yet. Going to shop around Leigh/Wigan and see if I can find any before I shell out on the postage for the ones I've seen on ebay.
Costume - Ordering at the beginning of September. Mum is awesome and is giving me £50 towards it. Because she's awesome.

Also going to get some cheap ACE bandages so I can try the costume on properly when I get it.

Hotel - [livejournal.com profile] lucid_endeavor AKA Jasper who I will be going with has sent me (most) of his share of the hotel money, so I shall be booking that.. probably after the weekend when I also have money.

Transport can be booked nearer to the time.

I need to go into town and ask the people in Boots about contact lenses. I don't know exactly what I'll need to do to get them, whether they'll be able to help me then and there or if I'll have to give my optician's a call and ask for my prescription. If I could get away without wearing glasses, I would, but my eyes are rather bad now and it would ruin my day if I had to go half-blind.

Luckily, I am a natural blonde and can therefore carry off England's hair colour. I also have naturally slightly dark eyebrows which I've never plucked, and naturally green eyes. Win.

Why is having fun so expensive ;3; All I want to do is go to London and have some fun cosplaying and it's costing me the earth. Oh well, we must suffer for our fandoms... here's the breakdown...

Outfit: £72
Boots: £29
Wig:  £30
Chest binding (ouchies): £17
Contact lenses:  £10 (approx)

TOTAL: £158 (approx)

If anyone knows where I could find any of those kinds of things cheaper I'd be very grateful for the info ;o;

Then, we have...

Hotel: £50
Coach: £15
Underground: £15
Food: £20

TOTAL: £100

Then add on top of that any extras like things I might buy at Expo and so on and so forth and man I wish I could make costumes myself but hey, it's going to be awesome anyway |=

(Donations are welcome hurrhurr)

Because there isn't a full enough title to fit everything I'm gonna talk about X3

Well last weekend went well, for the most part. MCM was epic fun, and I got lots and lots of hugs, and I met Craig Charles. Ohyes. I also got his autograph and he told me that my outfit was pretty *3* I was this close to squealing like a fangirl, I swear to god. I bouuuught... three volumes of Togainu no Chi, and Jasper got me a t-shirt ^-^

We also had sushi, which was fresh, and yummier than any sushi I've ever had. I was rather surprised when Jasper told me that it was the first time he'd eaten it. Strange. Anyway, I decided that next year I'm going to put together a Fallout 3 (Vault 101) jumpsuit. I can't remember seeing anyone in one of those this year or last year, so it's something different, and it's cheap, so I'll have more money to spend. I can get mum to help me, too, so possibly (sneakily) get her to field some of the cost. Hehe.

Nah, not really.

Moving on. On Sunday night I developed a slight cough. I didn't think much of it, since I was tired, but the next day I knew I had some kind of nasty illness coming on. I asked mum if she could take Jasper to the train station and when we got back I did not feel very well at all, and it only went downhill from there. I spent Tuesday and Wednesday feeling like I was dying, coughing so much that my diaphragm started to hurt, and on Wednesday night my throat was so sore that I was afraid to swallow. I was beginning to seriously think that I'd damaged something until suddenly, last night, it just stopped hurting. Weird. Didn't get rid of the cough, though.

I tell you what, this cough is a bitch. I can't remember the last time I had a cough for this long and it's driving me up the wall. I think it's interrupting my sleeping, too... I had a hairdo when I woke up this morning that would put Helena Bonham-Carter to shame.

On the upside I'm writing a bit more again, and my lord you wouldn't believe how popular my Fable 2 fanfic site is O-o Apparently it's been averaging 20-25 hits a day and that's with no advertising. I think that's some pretty good going and I really ought to get another chapter up soon.

Of course, that's after I do some usxuk updating and get out and look for a job and get to work on this 2500 essay that's due in ten days on a subject that I know next to nothing about thanks to missing two out of five of the lessons... I shouldn't have picked Green Writing. It's gonna ruin my high-mark streak, I just know it. Doesn't help at all that I really dislike one of the teachers (though it was very satisfying to find out that she had been made a complete fool out of by my friend Martin. Lulz were had).

Oh God, today, I totally fell in love with the singing voice of England from Hetalia (I also have both of his character songs if anyone wants them off me). I don't care if it's the same voice actor as Sasuke, he has a damned sexy voice DX

Done now xD

(Oh yeah, and remember when I fell over? My knee is still bruised. Fail.)

blood_winged: (Kaito)
Despite the fact that I was woken after four hours of sleep by silly people jumping on me demanding that I open the package that I got from China in the mail today. It was the dress that I'm using for my OC catgirl character cosplay at this October's MCM. Now all I need are the ears, which are on the way, and it's done! I'm so excited :3 There was a worry for a while that I'd end up not going because Jasper wasn't getting his arse in gear, then we sorted the entire thing (hotel, coach, tickets) in the space of a couple of nights. Woo.

I shall be going back to university soon. I'm not sure what to think about that. On the one hand, I'm glad to be going back because I'll finally be doing something with my time, but on the other hand, there's a lot of people that I was close with in my first year that it's now almost painful to be around. I suppose I'll manage. I always manage. I have some things to look forward to at least. I'm going to try for a scholarship to get onto a Masters degree course at Manchester. I'm not sure how to go about it, so I'm going to have to speak to my PT about it. Hopefully it's not one of those things where you have to apply ages in advance or I'm buggered! Haha. I also need a job. Well, not so much 'need' as 'should get a'. Yeah...

I'm only posting because I haven't updated in four days.

Well, not very much has happened. I've been out very little, which is normal, and have slept a lot, which is also normal. I keep waking up with thudding headaches which is no doubt due to my sleeping all day. At the moment I'm lying in bed with the distinct feeling that it is a lot later than half past midnight, when I can see quite clearly that it isn't. I also have a sleeping Benny, who is very cute.

I've ordered the dress for my cosplay next month, and it should be on its way to me soon so that's something to look forward to. On the 13th the person I want to order the ears off should be back so I'm hoping to get those then, and my costume will be complete. I thankfully didn't have to pay anything for the hotel, thanks to my dad chipping in the rest of the money I needed, which means I'll be able to afford to eat properly while I'm away (always a good thing). The only bad thing about MCM is having to get up at 6am so we can get to the coach on time. I'll either go to sleep early or not sleep at all, I think. Either way I'll have to make sure at least one of us is awake so they can wake the other up. I'm also going to try to not take an enormously heavy bag, because it's no fun carrying those around.

Next weekend I should have my new camera. After I asked for it early I didn't expect to have it this month but hey, I can't say I'm complaining. It means I'll have lots of time to play with it and learn what it does before I take it to MCM with me. Which reminds me, I need to buy a bag that I can take with my costume, because that blue denim one just won't do.

Oh yes, I made some more icons. Here you go:

Very quick ones. But I am totally an Akaito/Mikuo shipper. Ohyes. They go together like Kaito and Miku <3

Anything else..? Oh yes, my phone is Jesus. You want an explanation? Alright, then. I had a friend over, and we were playfighting on the bed, and one of us (not naming names... Matt) kicked over a cup of coffee. All over my phone. I thought it was okay, then to my horror realised that none of the buttons worked. However, after several hours of the thing looking like it was on life support (linked to my PC, charging, in a phone holder), it came back to life! Apparently the coffee didn't do it any harm. I have to say I'm relieved. I didn't fancy paying for a new phone on top of everything else I've needed to fork out for this month.

All's well that ends well. I have some Reaver-torturing to do. I know I keep saying that, but I'm really doing it this time.

I'm going to MCM! X3

Costume is 85% done, got the coach tickets, money for the hotel, expo tickets, and I should very soon have my camera (which is a birthday present, but I'm getting it early so I can take it with me) from my daddeh. Who is awesome. =3

I spent all day today clearing stuff out of my room. I managed to throw away four bin-bags of junk but it's a bit hard to tell what's been thrown away since most of it came from places that you can't see unless you look. Under my desk is mostly clear, my wardrobe has been tidied, and I've removed most of the stuff from under my bed. The shelf over my bed now just has books on it and a couple of ornaments instead of boxes with stuff in them that I didn't really need.

Back to MCM plans. Jasper's going to come here and stop over on Thursday night, and we're going on Friday. My university schedule actually comes in handy for this because I have both of these days completely free. On the Friday we're going to have to wake up stupidly early (ie 6.15AM) to get into Manchester for the 8.45AM coach. This will result in me either sleeping early or not sleeping at all, since if I sleep I'll just end up feeling ill when I wake up. I can always sleep on the coach. We're going to get to London at half past one, and then go to the hotel and wait around a bit before we go up to the room (since check-in is at 3PM).
Our very clever plan is to, on Thursday, go to Asda and get some food to take with us, because the prices of food in London are really extortionate. We've run the list to 'pot noodle, cereal, crisps, McDonalds, soup'. That should keep us going for two days, right..? I think so. If not we'll just be reduced to living on stuff out of the vending machines again, like last year when we didn't really think this through. I think (THINK) there is a newsagents somewhere near the hotel... but then, we can always scout around the area of Victoria Coach Station before we get on the underground and get some milk from an Aleef's or something. They must have shops similar to that down there.

Aside from that, nothing much has happened. Spurred on by the fanmail I got from one very kind reader I'm going to update my fanfic. Hopefully tonight. I got a lot of it done on the train coming back from my friend Robin's (where I stayed over the weekend, see my dA journal for more details if you feel so inclined), so I'm going to write that up now.

blood_winged: (Default)
I have come to this realisation while debating with Jasper whether we should stay in London for two nights or three. Three nights will push up the spending to a bit over £50 for lodging and transport, which may not seem like a lot, but... it is. I need to keep £21 aside for the neko ears I want to get. Hm.

As well as this, I have to pay my half of the money for the hotel and such for when I go to see Miyavi with my friend Kelly. I can't remember exactly how much this was, but that's going to put a dent in as well. Hm.

I will also need to start a new phone contract at the beginning of October. While I will hopefully (and I'm going to push for this...) get one cheaper than what I have now, that's still going to be more money gone. Hm.

I currently have around £200 in the bank. By the beginning of October, so long as I don't do something silly and splurge on something random, I will have £400. I guess I'll have to watch my spending until then. Wish me luck!

So, in the end, I didn't have to buy Sims 3. I got it bought for me by my daddeh, who is awesome. I've been playing it for... probably a week, which is why I haven't updated at all o.o It's very addictive, if you like that kind of game. Very different from Sims 2, as well.

I've been getting along otherwise, answered my first call at the Samaritans, and I went to see Bill Bailey last night. That was rather epic. I was in absolute stitches and I daresay I needed the laugh. Planning to go next year, if he comes back to Manchester.

In other news, the construction of my cosplay outfit has begun - got the socks. Not much, but it's a start! Hopefully I'll get back to writing soon, but you can't rush these things, can you. I'd hate to give a half-arsed piece because my heart wasn't really in it.

Well, back to Sims =D
